New Silk Road 2018 expedition
Information about the expedition project.
Jacek Palkiewicz's interest in the Silk Road has accompanied him from his youth to finally become a spark that fused the idea of this large expedition. The combination of history, culture with exploration and travel has made possible the creation of an event of great magnitude, thanks to which, as the organizer hopes, it will refresh and remind the history of the Silk Road, show it's great tourism potential and underline it as an international cultural herritage.
From the very beginning of the project it's design has gone through many minor and major changes in order to finally take it's present form and shape. It was possible thanks to Jacek Palkiewicz work and afforts and international support, involvement of countries included in the expedition project and UNESCO patronage.
In order to present and execute expedition project goals in intersting and best possible way, we combined elemnts of exploration, travel, media and official events, tourism, like: off road cars convoy, official media conferences in each countrie of the expedition project, monuments and historic places of the Silk Road, different means of transportation as an extra addon, inclusion of tourist point of view and perspective, and many more.
The Silk Road is not only a fascinating peace of history and colorfull tailes and legends of past times awakening fantasy. Thanks to its range and influences it made a great impact on many cultures.
By the expedition we want to explore what has remained of the Silk Road, learn about it's influences in the past, on the present and possible future and what meaning and value it has in todays world. We will discover it not only during the expedition but also during the whole project since the beginning of it's organization.
Even today, many countries have noticed the value of the Silk Road as a brand and it's tourism and economic potential. By the expediton we want to underline this potential, showing it's value by putting main accent on conjuction of history with tourism and travel.
We also want to support the idea of the Silk Road as an international tourism initiative, which can lead to creation of global brand with friendly cooperation between nations and mutual advantages, allowing to take what is best from the history and in the same time reminding of it's existance.
Poland is a country in which the expedition project was born, and in which the expedition will end. One of the key meanings of Poland in expedition project is a crossing of great ammount of historic merchant routes with the Silk Road on it's territory. During planning of the expedition route were taken into account two historic Polish travelers: Benedictus Polonus (traveled to Mongolia before Marco Polo) and Michal Boym, both of them travelled to Asia and one to China covering parts of the Silk Road.
In expedition project are included elements that remind mentioned historical figures and elements supporting promotion of positive image of Poland.Poland & the expedition
